C.R.S.

I’ve been working really hard trying to get everything ready for the big TRIP!  So many lists.  So many things to remember not to forget.  Truly, at my age the forgetting is a big issue.  Here’s an example.

I have a lot of keys.  Keys to the various cars, post office boxes, storage space, houses, kid’s houses, etc.  At one point I decided to separate my keys into four separate entities.  One each for the cars and one for everything else.  The everything else keys were quite heavy.  In March when we went to Florida to be with John’s dad, I decided to lighten the load in my purse and not take my everything keys.  Normally, keys not being used go into a dish we have for keys.  For some reason, I decided that putting all the keys in one place was a bad idea.  So I placed my everything keys in a safe place.  A very safe place.  So safe that I cannot find them.  Hah, I have foiled would be burglers!  Hah, I have also foiled myself!

So you see, the lists and the trying to remember everything is quite time consuming.  Luckily, I just realized this morning around 3:30 AM (and then had to verify my assumption by getting out my PDA which I keep on my nightstand to check) that this Thursday is NOT May 31 and I have a whole extra week to get ready!  Of course all this excitement meant that I was done sleeping for the night.  But it does give me time to remember to write my blog.

I’M A FOTI!

Yesterday I was reading the news on the internet (where, of course, everything is true) and came across an article titled, “DIET:Thin people may be fat inside.”  What?

Apparently thin or normal sized people who are couch potatoes are likely to have major deposits of internal fat according to a study at London’s Imperial College.  These people are labled TOFIs or thin outside, fat inside.  And they are susceptible to all the health woes as normal fatties.  In fact, they have a much higher risk of mortality than fat people who are active and fit.  And they point out that Sumo wrestlers who store most of their fat under their skin have a better metabolic profile than some of their sedantary spectators.

Well isn’t this just too annoying!  Here I am exercising several times a week but carrying my weight like a Sumo wrestler.  I think I’ll start wearing a little sign that says, “Please ignore my outside appearance, I’m actually thin on the inside.”

PERCHANCE TO DREAM

In between not sleeping at night, I often have weird dreams or nightmares.  Here’s last night’s.

John and I are walking down a dark deserted road.  Suddenly a car full of Muslim women in full traditional dress speeds by.  This is followed soon by a tiny convertible (like a Cooper mini) full of Muslim men dressed like Yassir Arafat.  It reminded me of the Keystone Kops.  John screams at me, “Get down.”  We both dive for the pavement while the car brakes hard and bullets whiz by just missing us.  We then run for the shrubbery at the sides of the road.  This is like a low thicket.  We try to cover ourselves in the darkness of the thicket and the night.  The men get out of the car and run toward the side of the road.  At this point I wake up.

This dream was:

a) fanciful

b) paranoid

c)  a foreshadowing

I have no idea where this came from.  I haven’t even been following the news closely lately. I have enough trouble sleeping without being attacked.

COMPUTER WOES

I am having problems with my computer.  It is a Toshiba Satellite A75.  What it does is overheat constantly and turn off.  It is hard to get much done.    It is difficult to write posts or reseach trips or do anything that takes much time.  And so frustrating to be cut off in the middle of a task!  John and I are going to find a replacement soon.

Any recommendations for a new laptop?
