J & B BBQ

This Little Piggy

Although I’ve been accused of overplanning, sometimes it brings good results. John had mentioned that he was a-hankering for some BBQ and hushpuppies, so I checked out the internet and found J & B’s BBQ in Heath Springs, SC. Luckily, since they are only open Thursday through Sunday, it was Thursday. I especially like the pig sitting on the table out front.

The spread

So here’s the artery clogging spread. Starting from the lower right counterclockwise there’s pork bbq, grilled chicken, fried chicken strips, corn on the cob, greens, hushpuppies, the thing with aluminum foil over it was macaroni and cheese, chicken bogg and white rice. In the middle is okra and tomatoes. You might have to click on the picture and go to the large size to see it all clearly. There were also beans, black-eyed peas, cole slaw, biscuits, banana pudding and some other desserty stuff.

And what is chicken bogg? It’s rice cooked in chicken goo with pieces of chicken and kielbasa in it. It’s kind of soupy and really yum.

When you enter the restaurant, you pay up front and then you can eat whatever and however much you want. This is a picture of John’s first plate. Over on the right side is a little bowl of chicken bogg. Although we did go up for refills, in our defense we didn’t have dessert and later we didn’t eat dinner. The motto of J & B’s BBQ is “Our butts are smoked.” Our butts were smoked too after this meal.
