Yay, it’s Thanksgiving. John and I start early – three days early. There is much to be done. We go out early on Monday and do our shopping and then John gets started roasting the bones for stock.
Since I don’t want to start my vegetables too early in the week, I work on cleaning up the house and setting the table.
This year Hanukkah falls at the same time as Thanksgiving, a rare occurrence. This give me the opportunity to change up my table decorations.
Finally Thankgiving is here! In addition to our family group, Rose and John, Ryan’s parents, are here. We have ten for dinner. As usual we set up a buffet table for people to serve themselves.
This year we are having deconstructed fresh Kosher turkey with stuffed thighs, additional stuffing, potato latkes in honor of Hanukkah, cranberry applesauce, spicy corn, green beans with mushrooms, chipotle mashed sweet potatoes, Brussels sprouts, roasted creamed onions and a ton of gravy. For dessert, Rose has made a pumpkin and a cranberry pie.
Everyone thinks the dinner is a success!
